My Blog
PASSION

It is no secret that my passion in life is animals.

Just take a look at my animal pages and you will get the picture.

Animals are so important to us living happier and more-fulfilled lives. Domestic animals like the cat, dog, bird, rabbit, and various rodents even fish give us 100% unconditional love…something that is only rarely given by our own species.

They ask for little in return. If they have committed owners, like me, then they enjoy all the good things they deserve. Nutritional food, warm beds, lots of cuddles, petting and massive amounts of attention. Being included as part of the family is a very important part of owning any pet, regular vet checkups are a must.

Unfortunately many animals are not only neglected but are subject to cruelty, starvation, violence and exploitation. If you watch animal rescue shows like the RSPCA you will see many cases that actually break your heart. You also see some that make your heart swell with happiness.

As for wild animals I cannot stress enough how wonderful and essential these creatures are to our own existence. Every single thing on this planet helps us continue to live. Any species that dies out brings our own demise closer. We are all connected because everything performs some action that is necessary not only for their own continuation of life, but for the survival of another species. So by making one animal extinct, as we have done so many times in the past, many others species die and the effect is that our lives, the lives of plants, insects, reptiles, fish and mammals etc. are put under more and more pressure.

Animals are here not only to help the planet survive but to add beauty and diversity to our lives. Imagine the magnificence of a tiger and then imagine that your grandchildren may never know what a tiger was like in real life. To me this is a travesty, but animals are not here to amuse us and should be treated with respect and dignity.

Although some zoos are doing some wonderful work in breeding endangered animals in essence no creature should be kept in a cage, used in the circus or, in the case of dolphins and whales, used for entertainment in enclosed pools at various water parks.

No matter how well they are treated this is WRONG…they would prefer the risk of the open seas where they can hunt and swim and breed in freedom.

I do not condone any cruelty to animals…the bears kept in cages for the collection of their bile, or on a chain to dance, or pose for photos. Elephants killed for their tusks, rhinos for their horn, many, many animals for their pelts so that “rich” people can wear fur coats and deer shot by someone using a telescopic rifle.

I have found that people who love animals are usually those who have a love of the environment and who care what happens to the earth. I have found that these people are usually kind and considerate. I have found that these same people usually care about other people. And I have found that these people are most generally NICE.

It is always better to care what happens to others, be it humans, animals or plants.

Everyday I feel thankful for the animals that share my life and even those who don’t.

If you are an animal lover please take a look at my HELP THESE ANIMALS page and consider helping in any way you can…everyone can make a difference.
