Let Your Imagination Soar
Your ability to imagine the unknown is a very important part of creativity. The following meditation will help you explore sights and sounds, and allow your imagination to create the ending to the story presented. Practice this often and feel free to modify it as you see fit to allow your imagination to create new scenes and adventures for you.

Find a comfortable spot to sit down. Close your eyes and relax. In a moment, I’ll ask you to take three very deep breaths. With each breath, I’d like you to inhale through your nose, making sure that your stomach rises as you inhale. As you exhale, I’d like you to breathe out through your mouth, letting your stomach come back to its natural position. Go ahead and take the three deep breaths now, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Continue to breath normally now.

We’re going to go on a mental journey where your imagination can flourish. Let’s begin by going to a beautiful island. Imagine that you just arrived on a small boat to a new island you’ve never seen before. What does the boat look like? Feel the materials. Touch the surface. How does the weather feel? Imagine yourself getting out of the boat and walking along the shore on the sand. How does the sand feel beneath your feet? Is there any sign of life around?

Imagine that as you are walking, you come upon a trail that leads into the heart of the island. You are surrounded by magnificent trees. There are plants and flowers of every kind and color around you. What do you see? How do you feel? What does this area smell like? Do you see any animals or insects? Take a minute to really examine your surroundings.

Continue walking along this trail. Imagine yourself coming upon a towering waterfall. You can feel the mist from the waterfall, gently caressing your face. Look around you. The waterfall pours into a large stream before you. Imagine yourself leaning over the stream and looking into the water. What do you see? You notice that there are some fish swimming in the water. What do they look like? Run your hand across the water. How does the water feel? Is it cold? Take a look at the waterfall again.

As you look at the waterfall closely, you notice that there is a cave behind it. Imagine yourself walking through the waterfall. You are now standing at the entrance of the cave.

There is a lit torch on your left. Imagine yourself picking up the torch and using it to light your way. What do you see around you? Imagine yourself walking forward through the cave, feeling completely safe and secure.

You can see a white light in the distance. Imagine yourself walking closer to this light. As you get closer you notice that there is an opening which leads outside of the cave. Walk through this opening. When you get outside, you see a marvelous site before you. Allow your imagination to show you what’s there.

Let your imagination run free and spend the next few minutes just observing.   Imagine yourself back at the boat now where you began this journey. Imagine yourself heading back out to sea. As you get further from the island, you become more aware of your physical body.

When you are ready to end this journey, open your eyes and reflect on your experience.
